Why Does My House Smell Like Rotten Eggs?

Funky Drain, Easy Solution
If the smell is coming from a drain, the most likely culprit is the trap. Every drain should have a “P-trap” that holds water in a “U” shape to block gasses from coming through your pipes. If you do have a P-Trap, but it is dry, there is nothing to stop the ripe flow from taking over your house but you can probably fix the problem yourself! Grab some water, pour it down and check 20 minutes later to see if this solved the problem.
Check the Toilet
If the smell is coming from a toilet, it is not sealing properly. Give the toilet bowl a careful wiggle (don’t go Hulk on it!) to check if it is loose.
If it feels wobbly, grab some plumbing putty for a quick fix. Follow the instructions on the packaging and make sure that your bowl is sealed!
